Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

You Have Questions. We Have Answers.

We are extremely grateful that our pups are in such high demand. Viewing our frequently asked questions will be beneficial to all parties before you give us a call. Please take a few minutes to look through the questions and answers below.

Are you affiliated with Smoky Mtn Labradors?

Yes! You can think of Smoky Mtn Labradors as our “mother” kennel. Everything we do is a family effort. We are grateful to say that our pups bred from Moose and our females are in incredibly high demand. We often hear the words, “I want a Moose puppy.” This has allowed us to start a second family-run kennel to better service our clients and distribute the workload. Everything we do, we do together, and we are thankful for the ability to make a living delivering the highest-quality English Labrador pups to families across the nation.

My payment information showed up as Smoky Mtn Labradors. Should I be concerned?

Do not worry — that is correct! Our accounting is currently run through Smoky Mtn Labradors. When reviewing your payment info, be sure to look for “Smoky Mtn Labradors.” This is what will show up.

Where are you located?

We are located in Knoxville, Tennessee.

What is the best way to contact Moose & Mary Labrador Kennels?

We prefer a phone call. We also have email. We ask only that you thoroughly review our website before you call. Our contact information is displayed on our Contact Us page.

Can we pick up our puppy in person?

Yes. If the puppy is picked up in the state of Tennessee, we are required by Tennessee law to collect state sales tax (9.75%). We are now delivering over 95% of our puppies via courier for the safety of our personnel and clients. Information on delivery options is available on our Puppy Delivery page. Remember that all the charges related to delivery are in addition to the purchase price of the puppy.

Your Lab puppies are available for sale in Tennessee, but do you ship them?

Yes. We have some of the most qualified personnel who deliver your puppy via airplane or car. Our couriers are very experienced in delivering our puppies, and because of excellent-quality photos, you can see your puppy on the proper day. We deliver by auto anywhere in the contiguous United States. If you choose to use a third-party delivery service, Moose & Mary will not be held liable for any events that occur after the puppy has left our kennel.

How much do your puppies cost?
Why must a puppy be paid for in advance?

Over the years we have had so many people place deposits after we have worked tirelessly to produce their puppy and then back out. Most people are not aware of the work that goes into raising a litter of puppies. With the rising costs of veterinarian bills, surgical implants and C-sections, as well as the labor involved in raising a litter, we want to be in relationships with only very serious Labrador buyers. We typically see the wait time of 6 – 9 months for our pups and most are paid for before they are even born. The demand for a Moose & Mary puppy is beyond anything we would have ever believed.

Do you offer refunds?

No. Moose & Mary has a non-refundable policy once a deposit for your puppy has been made. The one exception to this policy is any failed medical examinations of your puppy at your veterinarian’s office within the first three days of arriving at your home.

One of the things that sets us apart is that all our puppies have been thoroughly examined by our own veterinarian before we show you pictures or even select your puppy. We have found that this process eliminates any disappointment for your family. Only after a puppy has been returned to us upon failing an exam will a refund be issued. Here is more information concerning the health examination process:

  • Initial Health Exam. For the health warranty to be valid, the purchaser agrees to have the puppy examined by a veterinarian within three working days of the transfer. If at that time the puppy is diagnosed with an existing medical problem, the puppy may be returned for a full refund. If the purchaser wishes to retain possession of the sick puppy, the breeder agrees to pay any and all reasonable veterinary expenses up to 25% of the purchase price of the puppy within 30 days of documentation, but prior to any treatment for illness.
  • The purchaser must provide the Breeder with a letter from the attending veterinarian specifying the nature of the problem, and copies of the medical record and expenses. If requested by the Breeder, the purchaser must provide the Breeder with an evaluation from a second veterinarian of the Breeder’s choice at the Breeder’s expense prior to any payment. Smoky Mtn Labradors must be informed immediately of the initial vet examination by email at gene@smokymtnlabradors.com. If we do not receive notice of the vet examination, all guarantees are no longer valid.
