At Moose & Mary, we understand that raising a well-behaved pup to maturity can be quite an undertaking! But our owner and trainers have had decades of combined experience to accomplish just that. Their expertise is the result of thousands of hours of very hard and dedicated work devoted to training pups.

Gene Wolfenbarger, our owner, has been involved in the dog industry for over 4 four decades. After experiencing extraordinary success in the Treeing Walker coonhound realm, he changed his focus to English Labradors. Our Senior Trainer has spent many years in the field and is the best trainer we have worked with to date.

No-Nonsense-Allowed Training Program

The folks at Moose & Mary understand that helping a puppy become a mature and well-behaved adult dog eliminates the embarrassing moments while adding joyous occasions to your life with your new forever companion. Our English Labrador training program is open to all new and old Moose & Mary families.

Different trainers have different training methods, and we respect some but not others. Many different approaches are available to getting a new pup accustomed to its forever home and your daily schedule. We thoroughly understand the value of not only owning a beautiful dog, but also of living with a well-behaved dog. That’s why we developed our “no-nonsense-allowed” training program.

Our Process:

1. Purchase Your Puppy (Typical Wait time 4-6 Months)

Smoky Mtn Labradors being one of the Premier Breeders in the World has a very strong infrastructure in place where we are able to produce boys or girls in all three colors. We urge you to think through of what color and what gender you want before placing your order. We have all of our puppies examined by our Veternarian two different times (6 Weeks and 9 Weeks) before any of our clients see the picture of their puppy. At 8 weeks old all of our clients are giving the choice to enroll their puppy into our Crate Training School, which is an additional cost. At Smoky Mtn we only want to deal with a very serious Labrador Buyer and therefore all of our puppies are paid for in their entirety. If you desire to enter your puppy in our Crate Training School that is billed at 8 weeks old.

2. Level 1 Crate Training School (Optional)

Our Crate Training School has been one of THE SINGLE GREATEST DECISIONS we have made for our clients. WE would have never believed that INSTALLING a 16 Weeks old puppy (4 Months) into our clients home we would have had the overwhelming success of their complete satisfaction of us doing the very hard work early on for them. Our 4 month old pups that are installed after our Crate Training School and their 4 Veternarian Examinations here are the guarantee our clients are really looking for in the purchase of a lifetime companion. Our school involves over 728 hours of oversight in 8 weeks by our paid staff and we are allowed to see the puppy entire personality develop and watch the development of that pup in its most crucial health stage. This is the MOST RECOMMENDED route that we cannot stress assures you of the correct choice.

3. Level 2 Behavior Training School (Optional)

From time to time our potential clients will confuse the TWO LEVELS of TRAINING. The Level 2 Training takes place after the puppy is 9 months old and the puppy has been living with you for 5 months. We have learned the very hard way to let the puppy go home at 4 months old and allow it to be a puppy before it starts this level of BEHAVIOR TRAINING. Your puppy needs to be a puppy and bond with you during the 4-9 month stage and then when we introduce your puppy to our TRAINERS they are ready for the OFF LEASH TRAINING which is your highest level of training being done today in the DOG TRAINING WORLD. You do not want to confuse the two, of CRATE TRAINING and BEHAVIOR TRAINING. We have learned to separate them by months and allow the puppy to mature.
